Winter on the Farm

Winter is officially here and, with snow and below freezing temperatures, the sheep and goats have been moved closer to our water sources. The barns have faucets that allow us to run water directly into most of the buckets. Water on the hills is now freezing and lugging hot water to their buckets has become laborious.

All of the animals have nice thick fleeces. Starting mid January I will be shearing animals in preparation for birthing, etc. They will end up in the barn till they have enough fiber to keep them warm.

Since the shop and red barn now have heat, I will be scheduling classes throughout the winter. I have added some dates to the classes page. Of course, you can always request your own date by sending me the inquiry on that page or an email to jmarckathy@aol.com.

The January Fiber Retreat will be a chance to catch up with one another and show off our current projects. If you have never come, please consider doing so. It is a great chance to meet local fiber people and maybe discover a new passion!
