Dealing with the Snow and Cold

We have had our first significant snowfall in Maryland in a few years. Monday/Tuesday (15-16 Jan) it snowed four inches. Then on Friday (19 Jan) it snowed another 3 inches. Also, since Monday the temperature has been very cold with the high only getting to 28 and the lows a few mornings were 8 degrees. One more day like this to endure and then on Monday, 22 Jan, it starts warming up. The snow looks pretty but it does increase management of the animals.

Basically I have to keep the animals in pens so they stay safe and dry. The sheep can handle the cold so they have been in an outside (covered) area. The goats have all been moved into the heated barn. They all have lots of space to move around and get all the hay they want to eat so really it has not been too difficult. I check on them every few hours. For the sheep, I bring them warm water in buckets as cold water from the pump freezes very fast. The peacocks handle the cold well and have a covered area to stay in. The chickens pretty much stay in their coop. I shoveled some paths for them and a few of more adventuresome chickens have been walking around.

The video below shows the Angora does in the barn. The goat in the middle is Cutie Pie, checking out what I am doing.
